A temperature converter is a tool that translates a temperature reading from one scale — such as Celsius, Fahrenheit, Kelvin or Rankine — into another. MerchAsst's Temperature Converter supports the four most common scales used in product specs, manufacturing, storage and international trade documentation.
Enter the value in Celsius, select "Celsius (°C)" as the source unit and "Fahrenheit (°F)" as the target. The result updates instantly. The formula is °F = (°C × 9/5) + 32.
Enter the value in Fahrenheit, select "Fahrenheit (°F)" as the source and "Celsius (°C)" as the target. One Fahrenheit degree equals 5/9 of a Celsius degree. The formula is °C = (°F − 32) × 5/9.
Kelvin (K) is the SI base unit of temperature, starting at absolute zero (0 K = −273.15 °C). It is used in scientific, engineering and laboratory contexts, and in product or material specs that require absolute temperature values. Conversions between Kelvin and Celsius use the formula K = °C + 273.15.
Kelvin is an absolute temperature scale that begins at absolute zero — the point where all thermal motion stops. Because 0 K is the lowest physically possible temperature, Kelvin values are never negative. The converter will return an error if you attempt to convert a Celsius or Fahrenheit value below absolute zero into Kelvin.
